About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Bone Marrow Transplant Duration: 16 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: A minimum of 1 year of inpatient hematology oncology experience is required. License: Must have a valid nursing license. Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Certification required. Must-Have: Experience in medical-surgical and telemetry nursing. Experience with leukemia, blood dyscrasias, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma is mandatory. Description: This position involves nursing care in a Bone Marrow Transplant unit. The schedule consists of rotating shifts, mainly focusing on night shifts. Experience in hematology oncology is strongly preferred. Chemotherapy administration skills are essential for this role. Candidates will be responsible for telemetry monitoring and the interpretation of dysrhythmias. Management of feeding tubes and blood products is part of the responsibilities. Candidates should be comfortable with central line management and peripheral line care. The patient population primarily includes adults and geriatrics. Daily census is around 33 patients with a total of 36 beds available. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. An emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient safety is critical. Healthcare providers will engage in procedures like autologous and allogeneic transplants. The role requires adherence to strict protocols related to patient care and medication administration. Flexibility with scheduling is necessary, as staffing needs may vary. Candidates should be prepared for urgent credentialing processes.
