Job Description Summary Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at the competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results. Entity Medical University Hospital Authority (MUHA) Worker Type Employee, Regular Pay and Compensation Pay Rate Type: Hourly Pay Grade: Health‑28 Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36 Work Shift: Nights (United States of America) Sign‑On Bonus: $30,000 available to new hires with experience Minimum Training and Education Associate’s Degree in Nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Licensure, Certifications, Registrations Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) also required. Physical and Mental Requirements Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors and outdoors in temperature extremes, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, from kneeling positions, bending and twisting at waist, squatting, performing pinching operations, gross motor activities with fingers, hands, reaching overhead, repetitive motions, use of both legs, balance and coordination, reach in all directions. Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted; lift/lower objects 50 lbs from/to floor from/to 36 inches unassisted; lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs; exert up to 50 lbs of force. Examples: transferring a 100 lb. patient requires 50 lbs. of force; every additional 100 lbs requires assistance; pushing a 400 lb. patient in a wheelchair on carpet requires 20 lbs. of force; pushing a stretcher with one hand requires 25 lbs. of force. Vision: maintain 20/40 corrected in one eye or both eyes; see and recognize objects close and at distance; discriminate between colors; depth perception; good peripheral vision. Hearing: maintain hearing acuity with correction. Gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime as required, latex safe environment, maintain tactile sensory functions, good olfactory function (selected positions), respirator use (selected positions).
