Communications Director

The Director of Communications leads the organization's internal and external messaging, overseeing public relations, media strategy, content development, and brand management. This role ensures consistent communication that advances the organization's mission, engages key stakeholders, and strengthens its public visibility and reputation. Client Details My client is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to advancing its mission through philanthropy, community engagement, and strategic grantmaking. The organization partners with donors, institutions, and community stakeholders to drive meaningful impact and support long term social change. Description Lead outreach with program teams to shape and promote key narratives and campaigns. Manage multiple communications projects, timelines, and deliverables. Develop press releases, briefing materials, key messages, and talking points. Share timely updates and information with internal and external stakeholders. Execute strategic media relations plans aligned with broader communications objectives. Secure high-profile media opportunities, interviews, and events to advance organizational goals. Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, producers, and media outlets. Translate complex topics into compelling stories for U.S. and international audiences. Partner with external PR agencies to support communications initiatives. Serve as a spokesperson when needed. Track media activities, milestones, and results to ensure successful execution. Advise internal stakeholders on media and external engagement strategies. Provide communications support at conferences, media events, and key engagements. Contribute to media monitoring, reporting, and stakeholder communications. Profile Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Policy, Political Science, Global Affairs, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 7 to 10 years of communications experience, ideally supporting public-private partnerships and multi-stakeholder collaborations. Knowledge of U.S. and global policy, sustainable development, climate, philanthropy, and impact investing. Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex topics. Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment. Proven ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments. Experience collaborating across teams to drive organizational objectives. Ability to prioritize competing demands and adapt quickly to changing circumstances. Knowledge of social media, advocacy, and external engagement strategies.
