Job Summary

Courier is responsible for providing delivery and courier service for both hospital departments and its affiliates.

Responsibilities

Performs Courier Service
Maintains a personal appearance that is neat, clean, well-groomed and professional. Consistently demonstrates exemplary customer service as observed by supervisor. Interacts with co-workers, patients, visitors and medical staff in a business-like, professional and friendly manner. Understands and practices principles of confidentiality and security with respect to all forms ofinformation as applicable to patients, employees, guests. Operates motor vehicles in a safe manner. Does not smoke while operating motor vehicles. Handles supplies in a safe manner particularly with regard to lifting, hazards. Maintains a current driver's license and a safe driving record. Makes bank deposits as per established timeframe. Drops off and picks-up material (ie. radiology films, lab specimens, supplies) in pre-assigned locations within established time frame. Follows the assigned delivery route and timetable. Always wears seat belts when operating a motor vehicle. Answers questions of customers in a helpful manner, referring them to a supervisor when necessary. Participates in vehicle maintenance by keeping the vehicle clean and requesting appropriatemaintenance and state inspections. Picks up mail and delivers as per established procedures. Scans or documents all specimens into Courier Tracking System (Gajema). Closes out stops in Gajema as they are completed to reflect real time in the system. Responds to phone calls within 5 to 10 minutes. Consistently adjusts work schedule to meet daily work load demand. Interacts and maintains a positive relationship with patients, visitors, medical staff, and peers creatinga positive image for self and hospital. Only performs work related tasks white on route.

Performs Other Duties as Required
Attends mandatory in-services, staff meetings, and actively participates in self-education. Maintains required job knowledge (e.g. licensure and credentials, continuing education etc.). Completes all required competency assessments on time. Performs Other Duties as Required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.

Previous delivery/courier and customer service experience preferred.

• High School Diploma or GED
