Mechanical Engineer Job Description Join a dynamic team and take ownership of the design and engineering lifecycle of complex mechanical assemblies, systems, and specialized tooling for large-format robotic 3D printing construction equipment. Responsibilities * Own the design and engineering lifecycle of complex mechanical assemblies, systems, and specialized tooling. * Perform detailed engineering analyses using foundational hand calculations and advanced computational modeling (FEA/CFD). * Generate comprehensive engineering documentation, including 3D CAD models and detailed 2D drawings per ASME Y14.5 standards. * Lead cross-functional design reviews, incorporating feedback from various teams. * Drive the selection and qualification of COTS components, materials, and fabrication methods to optimize designs. * Collaborate with other engineers to develop effective designs meeting functional and performance requirements. * Work closely with Prototype Technicians and Manufacturing teams to troubleshoot assembly issues. * Develop and execute rigorous verification and validation plans to ensure designs meet all requirements. * Identify risks and drive mitigation strategies using tools like FMEA. * Provide hands-on support for field deployment and root cause analysis of mechanical failures. * Manage and control engineering documentation within the PDM/PLM system. * Review and check drawings created by other team members for accuracy and completeness. * Perform other related duties as assigned to support the company's goals and objectives. Essential Skills * Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical design. * Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience. * 3-5+ years of experience in hands-on mechanical design or product development roles. * Experience with robotics, automation, heavy equipment, or large machinery. * Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 (GD&T). * Knowledge of FEA and thermal analysis. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Experience designing, integrating, and troubleshooting fluid/hydraulic systems. * Experience designing hardware for harsh outdoor environments. * Experience with FEA is a plus. Work Environment Work onsite from 8 AM to 5 PM with overtime flexibility required.
