We are seeking multiple Child Protective Services Workers (Social Service Specialist 1) to join our Albany Child Welfare team. Together, we can make a lasting impact! As a Child Protective Services Worker, you will: Safety & Wellbeing: You play a crucial part in helping families achieve their goals while ensuring the safety and well-being of children. Engagement: You engage with children, families, resource parents, and caregivers in various ways to promote safety, permanency, and optimal outcomes for Oregon’s children and families. Assessment and Interviews: Conduct assessment and fact-finding interviews related to child safety, risk of abuse, neglect, or harm. You will also address necessary care and needs levels of the children and families. Strategies: You develop and implement multi-level strategies that leverage family strengths and address areas for improvement. Decision-Making: Analyzing collected information, you will determine appropriate child placement, considering each family’s unique circumstances. Communication: You will create reports, case notes, testify in court, and communicate with diverse populations in office, community, or legal settings. Minimum Qualifications Per pursuant toORS 419B.021, states that any position engaged in child protective investigations and/or custody determinations must meet the educational requirements. Experience alone will not meet the minimum qualifications for those positions. Degree must be completed, not in progress. A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human service, OR A bachelor’s degree unrelated to Human Services and either: An associate degree and either: We are looking for candidates with: Experience conducting child interviews, parent interviews and gathering/reviewing collateral information and documentation. Experience making determinations if abuse/neglect has occurred and take action as appropriate. Experience completing referrals for assessments as well as case notes. Travel: Occasional travel for meetings, trainings, and other case related activities. This includes required occasional overnight travel. Hours: Regular work week with fluctuating hours; occasional overtime may be needed, including evenings and weekends. On-Call: You’ll be part of a rotating on-call schedule that includes evenings and weekends. Physical Requirements: Frequent physical activity, including lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting children with car seats. This role involves handling sensitive topics related to trauma, abuse, and crises, requiring a trauma-informed approach that is essential to ensure a safe environment. You may interact with individuals who have experienced trauma and may have difficulty managing their emotions.
