The team is migrating a legacy batch processing platform to a modern architecture leveraging Ruby on Rails 8 and the Temporal workflow platform. This project was originally planned as a multi-year effort but has been accelerated significantly, creating an urgent need for a senior engineer who can immediately contribute and work independently. The developer will be responsible for converting legacy batch jobs into modern Rails-based workflows, validating outputs against existing systems, developing automated integration tests, and ensuring production-quality implementations. The ideal candidate combines expert-level Ruby on Rails development skills with strong backend engineering experience, database expertise, and an understanding of large-scale batch processing environments. This is a hands-on, backend-focused role with minimal front-end work. Success requires strong problem-solving ability, ownership, and the capacity to quickly ramp up in a well-documented codebase while helping the team deliver an aggressive modernization roadmap.
