Assistant Distribution Center Manager

Job Overview Amarr (part of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in opening solutions) is hiring a hands‑on, experienced Assistant Distribution Center Manager (Service Manager) to join our team in Grand Rapids, MI. This role is for someone who loves managing a dynamic team with an all‑hands‑on‑deck approach and is directly involved with directing day‑to‑day operations of a warehouse. Responsibilities Coordinate assembly, work schedules (including temporary personnel as needed), and warehouse operations to ensure service levels are met. Establish and enforce operational procedures for verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposition of merchandise, and keeping warehouse inventory accurate. Ensure corporate programs regarding safety, security, care of equipment and facility are followed; enforce OSHA compliance and maintain an injury‑free workplace. Manage all aspects of hourly warehouse staff from hiring to termination, including staffing, development, supervision, and direction. Working Conditions & Experience Manual dexterity and hand‑to‑eye coordination for operation of hand/power tools. Extended time on feet, walking distances up to 200 feet. Frequent stooping, bending, walking, carrying and lifting (up to 75 lbs.). Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of distribution center/warehouse supervisory experience. Experience with Continuous Improvement activities preferred. Clear and effective written and oral communication skills. College education or related experience. Organizational, time‑management and analytical skills. Good supervisory, leadership and motivational skills. Mechanical aptitude / power tools. Must be able to clear background/drug/MVR screenings.
