The Associate Director of Membership and Industry Engagement serves a critical role as the first point of contact for members. The role is responsible for identifying and helping to fulfill membership-related needs, managing the safety group program, and working closely with industry partners to enhance Association efforts.

About the Colorado Livestock Association

The Colorado Livestock Association is a member-based organization representing Colorado livestock producers, with a particular focus on concentrated animal feeding operations. Through efforts in the legislative, regulatory, judicial and electoral arenas, at the state and federal level, the Colorado Livestock Association represents the interests of members and serves as the united voice for Colorado livestock producers. Additionally, the Colorado Livestock Association provides members with resources in compliance and safety, helping producers protect themselves, their employees, and their communities. 

The Colorado Livestock Association was formed in 1998 through a restructuring of the then 43-year-old Colorado Cattle Feeders Association. The new name and structure were designed to better reflect the membership of the association. CLA members are cattle and sheep feeders, cow/calf producers, dairy farmers, swine operations, and agribusiness partners. In 1955, what started as a group of cattle feeders working to eradicate a disease, has grown into a multispecies organization, working to strengthen and united animal agriculture in Colorado for future generations. 

Basic Responsibilities

The Associate Director of Membership and Industry Engagement serves a critical role as the first point of contact for members. The role is responsible for identifying and helping to fulfill membership-related needs, managing the safety group program, and working closely with industry partners to enhance Association efforts. 

 

Membership:

1. Track membership changes, acknowledge new and dropped members with appropriate CLA information, and maintain/adjust the membership database as needed. 
2. Conduct membership surveys, as needed, and report on membership growth to the Board of Directors. 

3. Coordinate membership recruitment and retention efforts. 

4. Verify CLA’s membership list with the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association annually. 

5. Work with other staff to coordinate membership events and activities.

6. Develop and promote innovative ideas and materials to form new leaders and Committee Members. 

    

Industry Engagement:

1. Manage industry partners, seeking opportunities for promotion via Association sponsorship. 

2. Coordinate recruitment and retention efforts for industry partners. 

Safety Program Coordinator:

1. Serve as primary staff contact for members participating in the association’s worker’s safety program as well as all members with worker’s safety issues.

   1. Stay educated by taking advantage of safety seminars and educational opportunities. 

2. Communicate routinely with worker's compensation group carrier, endorsed-brokers, and the CEO. 

3. Work closely with CLA’s worker’s compensation program endorsed-brokers.

   1. Monitor operations with high frequency or severity of claims. 

   2. Conduct regular meetings with brokers to ensure CLA’s list of members is accurate, and members are receiving appropriate service. 

4. Organize quarterly Safety Meetings for CLA members and their employees.

5. Generate reimbursements and financials to submit to Pinnacol. 

 

Council/Committee Responsibilities:

1. Serve as the liaison to the association’s Species Councils and Industry Partners Council and assigned committees.

   1. Responsible for working with Council/Committee Chairs to plan and schedule meetings, provide notice to members and work with potential meeting sponsors. 

Other:

1. Contribute around the office as needed. 
2. Serve as the liaison to the CSU HICAHS Advisory Board.

3. Perform other duties as needed as a member of association staff.

 

Education/Experience: All applicable experience considered with BS or BA degree and a background in animal agriculture and nonprofit. Must be computer proficient and have excellent writing skills. 

Salary: $55,000-65,000 (Commensurate to experience)
