Phlebotomist II

Pay Range: $24.51hr - $26.27hr


Job Overview:


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the organization to patients visiting for health routines or health insights. The PSR II draws quality blood samples from patients and prepares specimens for lab testing following established practices and procedures. The role involves direct patient contact, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The successful candidate will demonstrate leadership behaviors with a focus on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information. Assignments may be in a doctor's office, a patient service center, or as business needs dictate.


Responsibilities:

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.
• Maintain a safe and professional environment.
• Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties with confidence following established practices and procedures.
• Perform verification of patient demographic information and initials, including patient signature post-venipuncture to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.
• Maintain required records and documentation.
• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the general public.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.
• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
• Flexible and available based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.
• Committed to all policies and procedures, including standard dress code, employee health and safety, and foundational principles.
• Ability to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and a clean driving record, if applicable.
• Ability to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations, including covering Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.
• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.
• Demonstrated customer focus, ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients, ability to accelerate and embrace change, and core operational knowledge.

Required Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Medical training (medical assistant or paramedic training) preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

• 3+ years phlebotomy experience required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
• Minimum 2+ years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred.
• Keyboard and data entry experience.
