Illustrative Duties

• Follows all Klein I.S.D. and Police Department policies and procedures.
• Will willingly and promptly respond to all calls for service assigned by the police dispatcher or a supervisor.
• Enforce all the general and criminal laws of the State of Texas that come to the attention of the police that occur within the jurisdiction of the Klein I.S.D. Board of Trustees.
• Investigate all criminal offenses that occur within the jurisdiction of the Klein I.S.D. Board of Trustees, or against the Klein I.S.D., identify the perpetrator(s) when possible, arrest such perpetrator(s), file appropriate charges, and cause to be placed in jail all persons the officer has reason to believe are guilty of an offense against the State of Texas, the Klein I.S.D., or its employees and/or students while on the property under the control and jurisdiction of the Klein I.S.D. Board of Trustees.
• Write accurate reports of all criminal activity that comes to their attention.
• Assist in providing traffic control on contiguous streets at the athletic events, school closings or openings, or at any other time deemed necessary by the Chief of Police to ensure the safety and welfare of students, employees, and school district patrons.
• Enforce all traffic laws and issue tickets or citations on those sections of the public roads adjacent to Klein I.S.D. properties and also within all officially designated school zone areas.
• Will provide police services at school or school district sponsored activities that occur off school property as authorized by the Texas Education Code or as deemed appropriate by the Klein I.S.D. administration and/or the Klein I.S.D. Board of Trustees.
• Enforce statutory law relating to school buses which are considered an extension of Klein I.S.D. classrooms and to control all vehicular traffic in marked school zones that are subject to the jurisdiction of the Klein I.S.D. Board of Trustees.
• Will provide other law enforcement functions as deemed necessary by the Chief of Police.

Job Description

• Perform all peace officer duties as enumerated in the Texas Law including, but not limited to Section 37.081 of the Texas Education Code.
• Must hold a current TCOLE license
• Enforce Subchapters C, D and E of Chapter 37 of the Texas Education Code.
• Perform all peace officer duties as defined by the laws of the State of Texas and the Klein I.S.D. Board of Trustees.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in firearms standards as set by TCOLE and Departmental policy.
• Will work shift work as required by the Chief of Police or his designee, including nights and weekends.
• Will comply with all departmental directives and general rules of conduct.
• Perform all duties as a police officer as directed by the courts or competent authority.
• Will be subject to assignment as determined by the Chief of Police or his designee.
• Will report directly to the Chief of Police or his designee.
• Truthfulness is a condition of employment, any violation of Department Directive 100-06, is grounds for immediate termination.
