The College of Fine Arts and Design currently has six academic units, the Department of Art, Department of Dance, School of Design, Department of Theatre Arts, School of Music and the Academy of Contemporary Music and specialized accreditations from National Association of Schools of Music (NASM), National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) and the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA).Department Specific Essential Job Functions:The University of Central Oklahoma School of Design invites applications for a Temporary, Visiting, Full-time, Assistant Professor in Graphic Design. This position will include academic responsibilities at a School of Design offering B.F.A. degrees in Graphic and Interior Design. UCO Design seeks dynamic and motivated candidates with a high level of creative industry, social engagement, and commitment to department participation.Preference will be given to candidates who are able to demonstrate experience with:A strong knowledge of foundational level hand and digital skillsA strong knowledge of drawing and illustration techniquesA strong knowledge of industry-specific software, such as Adobe CC, Procreate, etc.Print/digital production techniques and technologies and file managementA strong knowledge of typographyA strong knowledge of brand designTeaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses in Design Foundations, Computer Graphics, Illustration, and other graphic design courses as needed.Qualifications:General Experience Required:Teaching at the undergraduate level is expected. An earned terminal degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).Qualifications/Experience Required:An earned MFA degree or PhD in Graphic Design, Illustration, or related field requiring a minimum of 60 graduate hours awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement. **NOTE** MFA or PhD candidates that have degrees in progress are eligible to apply as long as the terminal degree is obtained and submitted by the time of employment.Qualifications/Experience Preferred:Minimum one year of university teaching experienceDemonstrated excellence in teachingDemonstrated experience in graphic design or illustrationKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:Ability to teach courses in graphic design, design foundations, illustration, digital and print production, digital design, and emerging technology.
