Rental Technician

The Rental Technician performs preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a wide range of rental and customer-owned construction equipment, both in the shop and in the field. This role ensures equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for rental, while providing courteous customer support and maintaining a clean, organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on rental equipment, including water pumps, generators (diesel and gasoline), concrete finishing trowels, concrete saws, power buggies, wood chippers, trenchers, light towers, mini loaders, air compressors (diesel and gasoline), heaters, ground thaw equipment, air conditioners, and compaction equipment.
• Clean and maintain rental equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and presentable operation for customers.
• Investigate and diagnose faults and failures in equipment and recommend appropriate repair solutions.
• Carry out light repairs on rental equipment and customer-owned equipment, ensuring work meets safety and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and well-organized shop, wash bay, and yard to promote efficiency and safety.
• Pressure wash equipment and perform daily checks to confirm proper and safe operation before and after rental.
• Service and maintain equipment according to manufacturer guidelines and internal procedures.
• Look up parts, prepare accurate repair estimates, and document work performed on equipment.

Work Environment

The role primarily takes place in a heated and ventilated shop environment, with occasional work outdoors on construction sites in all types of weather conditions, including hot and cold temperatures. You will work with a wide range of rental and construction equipment such as pumps, generators, compressors, heaters, ground thaw units, air conditioners, saws, and compaction equipment, using standard hand tools and diagnostic equipment. Typical work hours are Monday through Friday, generally 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with some variation by location and coordination with other technicians; there may be after-hours service calls based on rotation and on-call needs. The team environment is small and collaborative, with approximately three rental technicians at the location who work together and independently on equipment while providing mutual support and training. Company-provided uniforms are supplied as part of the dress code, and tools are provided; candidates are not required to bring their own tools, although having personal tools is viewed positively as a sign of commitment to the trade. The culture balances a small-company atmosphere with the backing and resources of multiple locations, emphasizing safety, organization, and a clean, orderly shop, wash bay, and yard.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37440.00 - $56160.00/yr. Company offers medical, dental, vision benefits
