Production Planner
Voyager is an innovative space, defense, and national security technology company committed to advancing and delivering transformative, mission-critical solutions. We tackle the most complex challenges to unlock new frontiers for human progress, fortify national security, and protect critical assets to lead in the race for technological and operational superiority from ground to space.
The Production Planner will be located onsite in Pueblo, CO and reports to the Materials & Production Planning Manager. This role is the engine room of the materials and production planning function — responsible for the day-to-day execution of material requirements planning within the ERP/MRP system and for keeping the data that drives production decisions accurate, current, and trustworthy. Where the Master Scheduler sets the program-level schedule and the Production Expeditor chases what is late, the Production Planner owns the system transactions and data integrity that make both of those roles possible. This is a detail-oriented, system-focused role for someone who understands that clean data is the foundation of everything else in a planning function.
In this role, the essential functions are:
- Execute material requirements planning (MRP) runs within NetSuite — review system-generated suggestions, release work orders and purchase requisitions, and manage the planning horizon on a daily and weekly basis.
- Own ERP/MRP data integrity for the planning function: BOMs, routings, item lead times, safety stock levels, reorder points, and planning parameters — identify errors, correct them, and prevent them from recurring.
- Manage open work order status through the production lifecycle — from release through completion — ensuring work orders accurately reflect floor reality and that discrepancies between system and physical status are resolved promptly.
- Maintain lot and batch traceability in production scheduling for energetics programs, including propellant grain manufacturing and batch mix operations, in compliance with AS9100 and production traveler requirements.
- Translate the Master Scheduler's program-level schedule into work order release timing, material availability requirements, and purchase requisition timing — the Planner executes what the Scheduler has set.
- Identify material shortages and supply gaps visible in the MRP system; communicate these to the Production Expeditor for action and to the Master Scheduler if a schedule impact is likely.
- Coordinate purchase requisition timing with the Buyer I to ensure procurement lead times align with work order start dates and production requirements.
- Support ERP/MRP go-live readiness — data validation, item master cleansing, planning parameter setup, and testing of scheduling outputs before the system drives live production decisions.
- Support the Production Expeditor with system-level information — delivery dates, open order quantities, inventory positions — when floor-level escalation requires system context.
- Develop and maintain standard planning reports showing work order status, MRP exception messages, and material availability — the data layer that informs both the Scheduler and Expeditor.
Basic Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and State and Federal background checks.
- Eligible to obtain and maintain State and Federal explosives licenses.
- 2–4 years of production planning, materials planning, or MRP execution experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience operating within an ERP/MRP system — releasing work orders, managing open order exceptions, and maintaining planning data; NetSuite experience a plus.
- Solid working knowledge of MRP concepts: BOM explosion, routing, lead time offsetting, safety stock, reorder points, and MRP exception management.
- Strong attention to detail and data discipline — this role's primary output is accurate information that others depend on.
- Organized and systematic; able to manage a high volume of open work orders and planning transactions without losing accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel; experience building and maintaining planning reports from ERP data exports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in defense, aerospace, chemical, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with AS9100 production record requirements and lot/serial traceability in a regulated manufacturing context.
- Experience supporting an ERP/MRP implementation, including data migration, item master setup, and go-live validation.
- APICS CPIM certification or active pursuit.
- Familiarity with DFARS, FAR, or ITAR as they relate to production planning and materials traceability.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations management, industrial engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Travel, Physical and Government Mandated Requirements
- Travel up to 5%, including the possibility of overnights within the continental United States.
- Ability to lift, move, or carry items or equipment up to 50 pounds. Comfortable standing, walking, and working in a manufacturing environment; use of personal protective equipment required.
- Candidates must meet all eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain applicable state and federal explosives licenses, including minimum age requirements (21 and over), a drug-free workplace in compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988 (41 U.S.C. §§ 8101–8106), Executive Order 12564 (Drug-Free Federal Workplace), applicable Department of Defense directives including DoD Instruction 1010.09 and DFARS View phone number on click.appcast.io, and successful completion of any legally required background investigations.
- To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
