Cashier Associate

Title of the job: Cashier Location: Retail Grocery Store Location

The cashier associate is responsible for increasing customer trust and loyalty by providing accurate, fast, and courteous checkout service. This person maintains financial responsibility in their service lane.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

• Provide ongoing attention to customer needs; greet, assist, and thank customers in a prompt, courteous, and friendly manner.
• Listen to and appropriately escalate customer concerns to management with a positive attitude.
• Manage the checkout lane according to service standards.
• Inform customers of special offers and promotions as requested by the company or store management.
• Record sales accurately through the scanning system; operate the checkout equipment precisely and efficiently, recognizing all forms of offers and providing the correct change when appropriate.
• Stock front-end products; restock and use supply items efficiently to eliminate waste and keep supply cost lower.
• Place discarded or returned merchandise.
• Return shopping carts to the cart corral.
• Assist in the training of new cashiers.
• Maintain the work area clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards;
• Report defective equipment and hazards to management.
• Notify management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, property defacement, or any action that is illegal and/or against company policy.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Meet legal and company policy age requirements for job functions.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English.
• Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug tests and background checks.
• High standard of integrity and reliability.
