About the Position

Harris Health System is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join the Correctional Health team at the 1200 Clinic for 12-hour day shifts . This role offers the opportunity to work in a challenging yet rewarding, mission-driven environment , delivering high-quality care to individuals housed in the Harris County Jail.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable performing intake health assessments , managing urgent and chronic care , and providing emergency stabilization when needed. You will collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing staff, and multidisciplinary teams while maintaining the ability to work independently.

This position may also provide flexibility and support across the broader provider team and ensures compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Requirements

• Education :

  • Bachelor of Science from an accredited Physician Assistant program (NCCPA)

• Licensure/Certification :

  • Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C)

  • Licensed as a Physician Assistant

• Experience :

  • No prior experience required

• Clinical Skills :

  • Ability to perform suturing, splinting, and EKG interpretation

  • Strong clinical judgment and patient care skills

• Communication Skills :

  • Above Average Verbal (heavy public contact)

  • Exceptional verbal communication (public speaking)

  • Strong written communication (correspondence and reports)

• Technical Skills :

  • Computer proficiency

• Knowledge/Skills :

  • Analytical abilities

  • Mathematics and medical terminology

  • Research knowledge and capabilities

• Work Schedule :

  • 12-hour day shifts

  • Flexible schedule, including holidays

  • Leave requests must be submitted 60 days in advance
