Toros Heal LA (THLA) Clinical and Internship Workforce Strategist California State University, Dominguez Hills – Toro Auxiliary Partners Position Summary The Clinical and Internship Workforce Strategist leads the coordination and expansion of internship and clinical training placements for students in the Toros Heal LA initiative. The role works closely with faculty, program directors, and community partners to ensure placements align with program requirements, accreditation standards, and regional workforce needs in behavioral and mental health. The Strategist develops and sustains partnerships with school districts, county agencies, healthcare providers, and community-based organizations to expand high‑quality training opportunities, especially in underserved communities. The role also oversees the internship and clinical placement platform, tracking student placements, training progress, and workforce outcomes to support program evaluation and reporting. In collaboration with academic programs, the strategist supports student workforce readiness and contributes to building sustainable workforce pipelines that connect students to careers serving children, youth, and families across Los Angeles County. This position is full‑time, exempt, and provides benefits. Salary Range: $80,000–90,000 Duties and Responsibilities Internship and Clinical Placement Coordination (40%) Represent THLA programs to external agencies, key stakeholders, and partners related to clinical and internship placements. Coordinate and support internship and practicum placements across THLA programs (MSW, MFT, Clinical Psychology, School and College Counseling, Human Services). Partner with faculty and program directors to align internship placements with training, curriculum, and accreditation requirements. Expand and maintain high‑quality internship sites, prioritizing children, youth, and families in underserved communities. Manage the internship platform, including training and support for students, faculty, and site supervisors. Oversee site agreements, compliance, and risk management; track placement data and outcomes. Support students in navigating placement processes and monitor progress, addressing issues as needed. Partnership Development and Workforce Pipeline Support (25%) Advocate for THLA programs within the university and among external community stakeholders and professional organizations. Facilitate and assist in building and sustaining partnerships with school districts, healthcare providers, county agencies, and community‑based organizations. Develop new internship opportunities aligned with regional behavioral health workforce needs. Support pathways connecting students to employment and represent THLA in partner and workforce meetings. Data Management and Workforce Tracking (20%) Train and support faculty and staff on managing program tracking platforms. Maintain internship and placement data systems and ensure data accuracy. Track student outcomes, including internships, graduation, licensure preparation, and employment. Support reporting and evaluation efforts, including grant reporting and program assessment. Student Workforce Preparation and Support (10%) Collaborate with faculty to support student readiness for clinical trainings, internships, and careers. Coordinate workshops, orientations, and employer engagement activities. Provide guidance on internship expectations and professional development. Other Duties (5%) Perform additional duties in support of THLA and related workforce initiatives as assigned by Supervisor or Administrator. Minimum Qualifications and Experience Bachelor’s degree in counseling, social work, public health, education, psychology, or a related field. A minimum of three years’ professional experience in student services, workforce development, internship coordination, or community partnership development. Experience working with community organizations, educational institutions, or healthcare providers. Strong organizational, communication, and relationship‑building skills. Experience managing data systems or tracking student program outcomes. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of internship and clinical placement processes and the ability to learn related procedures. Strong relationship‑building and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, faculty, and external agencies. Ability to organize and manage multiple placements, track student progress, and maintain accurate records, with attention to detail. Experience with or capacity to learn data systems and platforms used for internship tracking, reporting, and workforce outcomes. Ability to support student success and workforce readiness, with adaptability to evolving program needs and a commitment to serving diverse and underserved communities. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in counseling, social work, public health, psychology, or a related field. Experience working within a higher education environment. Knowledge of behavioral health workforce pathways and internship training models. Experience managing internship placement systems or workforce tracking platforms. Experience working with diverse and underserved student populations.
