Registered Nurse (RN) - Oncology

Job Description

This position involves providing exceptional patient care in an outpatient oncology infusion setting. The role requires specialized knowledge in intravenous therapy and patient management for individuals undergoing various treatments.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer intravenous antibiotics, antifungal medications, and steroids for inflammatory conditions.
• Facilitate blood and blood product transfusions and maintain central venous access devices.
• Perform the placement of Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters (PICC lines).
• Conduct IV Immune Globulin therapy (IVIG) and hydration therapy.
• Educate patients on self-administration of various medications.
• Implement therapeutic phlebotomies and manage specialty medications for chronic conditions.
• Demonstrate competency in care and maintenance of intrathecal or implanted infusion pumps.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of current experience in outpatient oncology and infusion.
• Chemo Certification (ONS) and Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) required.
• Experience with peripheral IV insertion and management of ports, fistulas, and catheters.
• IV Certification is highly preferred.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is required.
• Prior experience as a traveling nurse is preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Training Requirements

All new and returning agency staff must complete de-escalation training as part of their onboarding and clearance. Training must be obtained from approved organizations.

Additional Details

• No weekend or on-call requirements.
• Dress code: Personal scrubs of any color (no designs or cartoons permitted).
• Non-billable orientation required (8 hours).

COVID vaccinations are encouraged but not mandatory.
