Position Overview

We are seeking a highly autonomous, systems-fluent, and asynchronous code-proficient Backend Engineer II to join our elite core Technology Team under a permanent, full-time remote configuration open across Europe (including Warsaw, Poland hubs). In this high-ownership engineering role, you will shift completely away from routine non-regulated data transcription loops, entry-level client-side layout adjustments, or basic promotional text editing; you will run an active high-throughput microservices backend, third-party API webhooks, and relational data pipeline laboratory. Partnering directly with distributed Product Managers and AI Engineers, you will claim absolute technical responsibility for investigating ambiguous problems, structuring secure permissions, and scaling production systems. This position requires an engineering authority with 3+ years of professional history who maps service architectures fluidly natively using Backend and cloud primitives, commands technical mastery across modern web frameworks, and handles multi-tenant data consistency tradeoffs efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend Service Architecture Governance: Architect, implement, and maintain scalable server-side systems, secure web APIs, and multi-tenant webhook distribution frameworks natively utilizing Backend best practices.
• AI and SaaS Platform Customization: Build, optimize, and supervise robust integration layers connecting core applications cleanly with prominent learning platforms, third-party SaaS services, and external generative AI providers.
• Data Flow and Assessment Instrumentation: Design, calibrate, and track highly reliable data pipelines and processing workflows for complex academic assessments, learner activity tracking, and analytical reporting metrics.
• Access Control and Cryptographic Security: Formulate and protect ironclad authentication, authorization, granular permission tables, and systemic audit logs appropriate for high-stakes educational environments.
• Relational and Cloud Storage Modeling: Structure, write, and optimize secure database schemas and analytical nodes using PostgreSQL and BigQuery ecosystems.
• Containerized Service Deployment: Package, build, and deploy robust containerized services and application modules utilizing Docker inside modern cloud runtime frameworks.
• Production Diagnostics & Triage: Monitor system telemetry proactively, troubleshoot production defects, isolate root execution failures, and deploy durable architectural patches to maximize system uptime and maintainability.
• AI-Assisted Workflow Engineering: Leverage next-generation AI coding tools appropriately while maintaining strict engineering standards for automated unit testing, security boundaries, and high code quality.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• A minimum of 3+ years of proven, successful professional software engineering history operating as a Backend Developer, Systems Engineer, Node.js/Python Specialist, API Integration Architect, or closely matching technical capacity inside production environments.
• Expert Backend Ecosystem Command: Deep, practical programming fluency operating with modern backend technologies, explicitly including TypeScript/Node.js or Python .
• Hands-on operational tool literacy leveraging popular runtime application frameworks (such as NestJS, FastAPI, Express , or similar systems).
• Advanced structural understanding of relational database management systems (specifically PostgreSQL ), REST/GraphQL API boundaries, validation patterns, and cloud platforms.
• Demonstrated experience successfully owning and scaling technical systems beyond narrow feature delivery, demonstrating a self-directed drive to untangle unclear engineering barriers.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication strengths in English, with an established history translating complex architectural paths cleanly for cross-functional squads.
• Location Context: Position operates under remote parameters open exclusively to qualified full-stack or backend engineers residing permanently within Europe (Fully Remote / Poland Allowed Hubs) .

Preferred Strategic Indicators (Nice to Have)

• Prior technical or domain background configuring learning platform integrations or software utilizing LTI standards (Learning Tools Interoperability) or adjacent edtech protocols.
• Familiarity with event-driven architectures, automated message broker queues, data streaming pipelines, or building enterprise-level multi-tenant SaaS products.
• Prior deployment familiarity navigating Google Cloud Platform (GCP) infrastructure models, automated CI/CD configurations, logging aggregates, or privacy audit metrics.
• Possess a formal Bachelor’s or higher degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a matching quantitative discipline.
