Human Resources Assistant/Generalists

Position Summary: We're seeking a highly organized and service-oriented Human Resources Assistant or Generalists (DOE) to join our clients team and play a key role in supporting their HR operations. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys working with people, and wants to grow within the field of human resources.

The HR Assistant or Generalists will support a wide range of HR functions including onboarding, personnel recordkeeping, applicant tracking, interview coordination, and employee support. You'll work closely with the Director of Human Resources and other stakeholders to ensure our HR processes run smoothly and efficiently. An ideal candidate is someone looking to grow within a company for the long term.

Employment Type: Full Time Salary

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date personnel records, including applicant flow data and employee files.
• Coordinate and facilitate new hire onboarding and employee orientation sessions.
• Prepare new hire packets, job descriptions, and HR-related documentation.
• Schedule interviews and coordinate calendars for hiring managers.
• Conduct phone screenings for potential candidates and support weekly job posting updates.
• Serve as the point of contact for wage and employment verifications.
• Act as a liaison between payroll and HR to resolve employee pay issues.
• Maintain supplies of HR forms and ensure mandated employment postings are current.
• File and report workers' compensation claims in a timely manner.
• Respond to general HR inquiries and assist with additional administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

• Education: Associate's degree preferred (or equivalent experience). In lieu of a degree, 5+ years of experience in a relevant administrative or HR support role will be considered.
• Experience: 1–3 years in an HR support, recruiting coordination, or administrative position with exposure to HR processes.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; comfortable with database systems and applicant tracking software (ATS) is a plus.
• People Skills: Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills; able to interact with employees, managers, and external partners at all levels.
• Organizational Skills: Detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities with a calm, professional demeanor.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience within a manufacturing, defense, or aerospace setting preferred

Location & Compensation:

• Rockford, IL (onsite)
• Pay: $45,000-$65,000
