Clinical Nurse Coordinator Pulmonary Renal

LewisGale Medical Center is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator for our Pulmonary Renal unit to join our dedicated Healthcare & Medical Services team. As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will function as a clinical leader and expert resource for nurses and support staff caring for patients with complex pulmonary and renal conditions, including acute and chronic respiratory disease, renal failure, and patients requiring dialysis or advanced monitoring. In this role, you will coordinate patient care across the continuum, ensuring that evidence-based practice, regulatory standards, and hospital policies are consistently followed.
You will oversee daily clinical operations on the unit, assist with patient assignments, and collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, dialysis teams, case managers, and ancillary staff to promote safe, efficient, and compassionate care. You will participate in patient assessments, develop and update care plans, monitor patient progress, and serve as an escalation point for complex or rapidly changing clinical situations. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will support bedside nurses by providing real-time clinical guidance, troubleshooting equipment and treatment issues, and reinforcing best practices in pulmonary and renal care, including ventilator management, oxygen therapy, dialysis coordination, and fluid and electrolyte management.
This position plays a key role in mentoring, coaching, and developing nursing staff. You will help onboard new nurses, precept students, and facilitate ongoing clinical education focused on pulmonary and renal disease processes, medication management, and patient safety initiatives. You will participate in performance improvement projects, collect and review quality metrics, and assist with implementing interventions to improve patient outcomes, satisfaction, and throughput. The Clinical Nurse Coordinator will help ensure accurate documentation, adherence to infection prevention standards, and compliance with unit-specific protocols for high-risk therapies and procedures.
