Crisis intervention skills for providing immediate support to patients in crisis situations. Effective therapeutic communication skills, including active listening and empathy. Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse specializing in Behavioral Health. The nurse will work in a designated unit that serves various patient populations. Responsibilities include assessing mental health status and recognizing psychiatric disorders. The nurse will develop individualized care plans based on the needs of patients with mental health and behavioral issues. Responsibilities also include administering psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects or adverse reactions. The nurse will provide immediate, short-term support to patients in crisis, utilizing de-escalation techniques. Monitoring patients for physical and psychological symptoms is essential, including vital signs and mental status changes. The role emphasizes building trust and rapport with patients through effective communication skills. The position requires coverage for three 12-hour shifts each day, seven days a week, including weekends. Dress code requires nurses to wear blue uniforms while mental health technicians wear green or black. The ideal candidate will adhere to core values of integrity, compassion, and respect in patient care interactions. Knowledge of psychotropic medications and crisis intervention techniques is crucial for success in this role.
