Build Mission-Critical RF Systems That Power Aerospace and Defense Join Microwave Power Products as a Cold Test Technician (Radio Frequency/Electronics) and play a key role in preparing high-performance vacuum electronic devices for final manufacturing production and electrical testing. This hands‑on role combines precision mechanical assembly, diagnostic measurement, and technical problem‑solving in a collaborative manufacturing environment. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY (Role Summary) Cold Test Technicians support the klystron manufacturing process by assembling, inspecting, measuring, and verifying subassemblies and full units prior to high‑power electrical testing. This role focuses on ensuring mechanical integrity, alignment, vacuum readiness, and preliminary electrical characteristics of complex RF hardware. The technician works with precision instruments and diagnostic equipment while collaborating closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to identify discrepancies and ensure product readiness. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical judgment, and comfort working with both mechanical assemblies and electronic test equipment. YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR (Responsibilities) Assemble, configure, and prepare klystron subassemblies and full units using engineering drawings, schematics, and manufacturing documentation. Perform cold testing and verification activities including dimensional checks, continuity testing, vacuum integrity verification, alignment validation, and mechanical fit assessments prior to high‑voltage or RF testing. Operate diagnostic and measurement equipment such as network analyzers, oscilloscopes, RF signal measurement instruments, gauges, and precision torque tools to evaluate hardware condition and readiness. Interpret test results, identify discrepancies, and collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to troubleshoot and resolve issues. Record inspection data, measurements, and part traceability accurately within manufacturing documentation or digital systems. Handle, move, and position production hardware using carts, fixtures, cranes, or lifting devices while maintaining equipment safety and product integrity. Support contamination control, cleanroom practices, and safety protocols associated with high‑value vacuum electronic hardware. Assist with evaluation of non‑conforming or returned hardware and support root cause investigations as needed. Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot and resolve build or test discrepancies. Maintain organized work areas, tools, and equipment to support production efficiency and quality standards. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to assembly, testing, and manufacturing processes. Develop technical knowledge across products, RF systems, and manufacturing equipment. Perform other operational and production duties as assigned. YOU ARE THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THIS JOB IF YOU HAVE THESE PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Typically 3‑5 years of experience in electro‑mechanical assembly, electronics maintenance, RF systems, military technical roles, or a related manufacturing environment; or an AA degree in electronics or technical field. Experience troubleshooting or maintaining electronic, RF, radar, avionics, or similar technical systems is highly valued. Familiarity with diagnostic instruments such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, signal analyzers, multimeters, or other electronic measurement equipment. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Strong mechanical aptitude with experience handling precision components or assemblies. Experience working in regulated, safety‑sensitive, or mission‑critical environments (military, aerospace, medical, semiconductor, etc.) is a plus. High attention to detail with strong documentation and communication skills. Proficiency with basic computer systems and willingness to learn new software tools. Ability to obtain a DOD Security Clearance is a plus. Physical Work Demands Ability to lift and move objects up to 30 lbs. Ability to safely maneuver heavier hardware using carts, fixtures, or lifting equipment (such as hoists or cranes). Combination of sitting and standing throughout the workday while operating test equipment and performing assembly or setup activities. Ability to push carts containing production hardware within the manufacturing area. Frequent use of hands for precision assembly, tool operation, and instrument setup. Ability to work in close proximity to electronic test equipment, high‑voltage areas, and manufacturing machinery following safety procedures. Visual acuity sufficient to read instruments, measurements, and detailed technical documentation. This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals) due to access to export‑controlled technology.
