Rehab Services Clinical Coordinator (Occupational Therapy) - Southeast

Job Summary Position responsible for serving in a leadership role and as a clinical expert in the delivery and management of comprehensive patient care, utilizing research and evidence-based practice as necessary; for expertly caring for patients from multiple services/specialties and for more complex diagnoses. Responsible for appropriate oversight/supervision of assigned personnel and performing direct patient care in a cost-effective manner. Assesses patients, develops and initiates treatment plans based on evaluation results, provides direct care, documents findings, progress and instructions to patients and caregivers, and serves as a resource and mentor for staff, students and volunteers while assisting in educational program development and community education and marketing. Location: Southeast Hospital Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's or Graduate degree from an accredited university-based therapy program; Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy or Speech Pathology Current license to practice Physical Therapy by the Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or the Physical Therapy Compact Commission Current Texas Board of Occupational Therapy Examiners license Current license to practice Speech/Language Pathology by the State Board of Examiners for Speech Pathology and Audiology for Texas Current certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Current certification in Basic Life Support Doctoral degree with residency or fellowship program, or licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis for a physical therapist practicing direct access Experience / Knowledge / Skills At least five (5) years of clinical experience with demonstrated leadership acumen Physical ability to lift up to 75–100 pounds, carry up to 30 pounds, prolonged standing, frequent walking, stooping and squatting Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, ability to receive and provide oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing Visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics Principal Accountabilities Assume responsibility in the care of the patient Perform complete, comprehensive evaluations of patients Accurately interpret evaluation findings Complete a written plan of care, develop goals based on evaluation findings, and develop a comprehensive program to attain goals Implement a therapy treatment program and provide advanced therapy treatments Demonstrate competency in performing advanced therapy skills Assess patients periodically to monitor progress toward treatment goals, and alter goals, plan or program as indicated Motivate and instruct patient/caregiver using appropriate methods Communicate effectively with staff, patients/caregivers and professional colleagues, including physicians and insurance companies Manage time effectively Document appropriately in the medical record and complete other documentation duties accurately and efficiently Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to develop staff and act as a clinical instructor to therapy students Provide clinical supervision of staff in a professional, open environment and take an active role in ensuring safe and effective performance Perform assigned administrative duties in the absence of a manager and/or director Assist manager/director with new employee onboarding, orientation and new hire paperwork Actively participate in organized community service functions as a representative of the profession Attend and participate in designated committees, focus groups, and staff meetings with the Rehab Manager and/or Director Identify the need for new departmental programs or revisions of existing ones in response to the changing health environment, conceptualize, design and implement new or revised programs Serve on designated committees to advance the quality of therapy service Assist with departmental planning, including strategic plans, budgets, goals, policies, procedures, standards of care and marketing Coordinate day-to-day operations of the assigned area to ensure safe care to patients while adhering to policies, procedures and standards within budgetary specifications Demonstrate good skills in time management, supply management, productivity and accuracy of practice Coordinate staffing and schedules to ensure optimal department performance within budgetary and productivity specifications Assist with updating and maintenance of personnel files Demonstrate competence to provide treatment in all areas of the department, including inpatient, outpatient and inpatient rehabilitation Assist manager/director with coordinating and conducting candidate interviews and provide feedback on candidate selection Present relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by faculty Ensure safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adhere to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures and standards within budgetary specifications Promote individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; support department-based goals that contribute to the organization’s success Demonstrate commitment to caring for every member of our community by creating compassionate and personalized experiences Model Memorial Hermann’s service standards by providing safe, caring, personalized and efficient experiences to patients and colleagues #J-18808-Ljbffr
