Nursing Station Clerk/NSC Trainee 19N Med Onc Full Time

Position Summary Nursing Station Clerks 1 are assigned to either inpatient or outpatient units where they have daily contact with patients. The team member greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate locations, answers telephones, performs data entry activities, maintains daily and clinical logs, prepares and updates patient charts and files, fills out medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions, mails patient letters, and delivers supplies and records to an assigned unit. Responsibilities Orient patients and/or families to the unit, providing general information regarding the room, unit, and hospital. Give information on patient condition within existing policies and direct visitors to appropriate locations. Process physicians’ orders by recording written orders in charts, kardex, flag sheets, or directly into a computer file after review by a Registered Nurse; and by filling out medication tickets and pharmacy requisitions. Receive new admissions. Prepare and maintain patient charts, daily log, and clinic log. Perform data entry, maintain clinical logs and other administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications One year of full‑time clerical experience in a health care setting. Must be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Nursing Station Clerk 1. For candidates not on the eligible list, provisional appointment requires mandatory examination and subsequent eligibility list placement. Must possess a current 55b/c eligibility letter if applicable. One year of permanent competitive service in a title approved for transfer to Nursing Station Clerk 1 (if transferring). Appointment and Compensation The salary range for this position is $xxx–$xxx per year, subject to the Civil Service guidelines. Annual supplemental pay may include location pay, shift differentials, inconvenience pay, and geographic pay. Total compensation also includes generous leave, health plans, and a state pension.
