Facilities Management creates, maintains, and improves the William & Mary physical environment. Senior HVAC Mechanics are responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems and equipment. Specific duties include but are not limited to: Independently performs maintenance and repairs and assists lower-level employees, training them as needed. Ensures preventive maintenance is performed as scheduled and is properly documented. Oversees the energy management control systems (EMCS). Utilizes the work order system for documentation and customer response cards. Required Qualifications High School graduate or equivalent. Several years of experience in HVAC maintenance, repair, and installation including experience with pumps, motors & piping. Experience with HVAC construction methods and codes. Experience with troubleshooting, testing, diagnosing, and repairing HVAC equipment. Experience in interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications. Ability to climb ladders. Good oral and written communication skills and ability to deal effectively with supervisors, peers, and customers. EPA Universal Refrigerant License. Valid Driver’s license and two years of driving experience. Preferred Qualifications Virginia HVAC Journeyman or Master’s License. Experience working with Building Automation Systems (BAS). Conditions of Employment The position is essential to the department, may require reporting to work when the University is officially closed, and is subject to overtime. Incumbents will be required to participate in the Facilities Management “on-call” program on a rotating basis. This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime as per the Fair Labor Standards Act. Overtime may be required during high peak times. The position requires maintaining an active and valid driver’s license.
