We are currently seeking a Quality Inspector to add to our growing team. Location: 7042 Satsuma Drive, Houston, TX 77041 Position Summary & Objective The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring all materials, components, and finished custom HVAC units meet company and customer quality standards. This role performs incoming, in-process, and final inspections, manages non-conformance reporting (NCR) processes, and works closely with production teams to identify, document, and resolve quality issues. Key Responsibilities Perform incoming inspection of raw materials and components to verify compliance with specifications, drawings, and purchase requirements. Inspect materials such as sheet metal, piping, electrical components, and hardware for defects or deviations. Verify documentation, certifications, and material traceability where required. Conduct in-process inspections throughout fabrication, welding, brazing, and assembly stages. Conduct piping and pressure valve inspections according to required intervals and engineering specifications Inspect welded assemblies for compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and workmanship standards. Identify welding defects including undercut, porosity, cracks, incomplete fusion, overlap, excessive spatter, distortion, and other discontinuities. Verify weld dimensions, fit-up, joint preparation, and overall weld quality using visual inspection methods and measuring tools. Perform final inspections of completed HVAC units to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards. Use precision measuring tools (calipers, tape measures, gauges, weld gauges, and other inspection equipment) to verify dimensions and tolerances. Identify and document non-conforming materials and products. Initiate and manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including clear documentation of issues and supporting data. Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and purchasing teams to determine root cause and corrective actions, project completion and compliance. Track NCRs through resolution and ensure proper disposition (rework, repair, scrap, or use-as-is). Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation. Ensure compliance with company quality standards, procedures, customer requirements, and applicable welding standards. Support audits, quality reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work closely with production teams to address quality concerns and prevent recurrence. Provide feedback and guidance to improve fabrication, welding, and assembly workmanship. Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across departments Qualifications & Skills 3–5+ years of experience in quality inspection within manufacturing, HVAC, metal fabrication, welding, or a similar industrial environment. Strong experience with Non-Conformance Reporting (NCR) processes, including documentation, tracking, and resolution. Solid understanding of material inspection and quality control methods. Working knowledge of soldering and brazing techniques for HVAC repairs Ability to test and understand electrical components, motors and safety devices. Familiarity with weld symbols, welding terminology, and fabrication drawings. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, welding symbols, and specifications. Proficiency with measurement tools and inspection techniques, including weld gauges. Knowledge of dimensional inspection, fit-up verification, and fabrication tolerances. Strong attention to detail and analytical/problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate effectively with production, engineering, and leadership teams. Experience with quality systems, documentation, and audits preferred. High school diploma or GED required; technical training, welding inspection experience, AWS certifications, or other quality certifications are a plus. Physical Requirements & Work Environment Work performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to production equipment, noise, and industrial materials. Frequent walking between departments to perform inspections. Ability to stand, bend, and perform inspections for extended periods. Occasional lifting of materials up to 25–40 pounds. Exposure to dust, noise, fumes, and typical shop conditions. Must wear required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and protective footwear.
