Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN)

We are seeking a skilled Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and possess a strong capability to manage high-acuity patients.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Emergency Room (ER)
• Number of Beds: 24 beds, including 4 behavioral health rooms and 2 critical care rooms.
• Patient Volume: Approximately 70-80 patients treated daily.
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 4:1

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Evenings
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Shift Timing: 12 PM - 12 AM; weekends as needed

Essential Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ER experience required.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS (AHA), PALS or ENPC, NIHSS.
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical records system.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to emergency patients with diverse medical issues.
• Conduct triage and assess patient condition efficiently.
• Administer medications and manage common drips including levophed, epinephrine, fentanyl, and propofol.
• Collaborate with physicians and mid-level providers for optimal patient care.
• Participate in departmental orientation and training programs for new staff.

Additional Information

• 24/7 in-house security available in the ER.
• Behavioral health patient sitters provided by a dedicated pool.
• Transportation for labs and imaging performed by qualified staff.
• This position is not suitable for new ER nurses; candidates must be self-sufficient and comfortable handling a fast-paced workload with potentially fewer resources.
• Floating between facilities may be required, although infrequent.

Dress Code

Navy blue scrubs are required. Plain or facility-branded sweatshirts are permitted; hoodies are not allowed.

Work Environment

Our ER operates as a STEMI and stroke receiving facility with a dedicated vertical flow area for efficient patient processing. We treat patients across a broad age range, primarily between 20 and 90 years old. This role requires adept clinical skills and the ability to work under pressure.
