Workers’ Compensation NE Claims Manager – Oversees and advances our workers’ compensation claims strategy across multiple jurisdictions. Plays a critical role in managing complex, high‑exposure claims, partnering with internal and external stakeholders, and influencing outcomes that protect employees and the organization. The Role The Manager has end‑to‑end responsibility for the oversight of workers’ compensation claims, including litigated matters, across multiple states. The role directly impacts claim outcomes, cost containment, compliance, and return‑to‑work success. Key Responsibilities Oversee all aspects of workers’ compensation claims handling: reporting, medical management, reserving, litigation, negotiations, settlement and return‑to‑work coordination. Act as the primary contact for TPAs, adjusters and defense attorneys; supervise adjuster performance to ensure high standards and effective cost control. Partner closely with legal counsel to determine optimal claim strategies and drive timely, appropriate resolutions. Conduct regular claim reviews to assess progress, evaluate exposure, and identify early settlement opportunities. Ensure compliance with workers’ compensation laws, regulations and internal standards across hotel operations. Support and monitor transitional duty and return‑to‑work programs to promote safe and timely employee reintegration. Produce reports and analyses using Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) to support safety initiatives and leadership decision‑making. Assist with enterprise‑wide loss prevention initiatives and special projects aligned with broader Risk Management objectives. Exercise independent judgment, manage competing priorities and collaborate across functions to deliver consistent, high‑quality results. Qualifications Experience Required: 5+ years of workers’ compensation experience, with significant experience managing New York workers’ compensation claims and litigation (experience in other Northeast states preferred). Direct experience handling litigated workers’ compensation claims. Strong understanding of workers’ compensation laws, regulations and best practices. Experience working with TPAs and insurance carriers, including performance oversight. Ability to analyze claim data, assess risk and support loss control and safety efforts. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple, complex cases simultaneously. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience with claims RMIS platforms. Willingness to travel approximately 10–20%. Experience Preferred: Relevant insurance certification and/or coursework related to insurance or risk management. Salary Range: $89,000 to $130,000. Eligible for incentive awards and an annual bonus.
