We are excited to announce that we are looking for a Full-Time,  Medical Assistant – Certified at Red Bank Gastroenterology in Red Bank, NJ.

About the Role:

The Certified Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by delivering high-quality clinical and administrative assistance in a medical setting. This position ensures efficient patient flow by preparing patients for examinations, recording vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures under the supervision of physicians or nurses. The role demands meticulous attention to detail to maintain accurate patient records and manage healthcare documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. Additionally, the Medical Assistant serves as a compassionate point of contact for patients, providing clear communication and support throughout their visit. Ultimately, this position contributes to the overall effectiveness and quality of patient care within the healthcare facility.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs, medical histories, and recording symptoms.
• Assist healthcare providers during examinations and minor procedures by handling instruments and supplies.
• Manage patient records, including updating electronic health records (EHR) and ensuring confidentiality.
• Schedule patient appointments, answer phone calls, and coordinate communication between patients and medical staff.
• Perform basic laboratory tests, collect specimens, and ensure proper labeling and handling.
• Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment and examination rooms.
• Educate patients on medication instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up care as directed by healthcare providers.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Medical Assistant to efficiently perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting with procedures, and managing patient records with accuracy and confidentiality. Proficiency in electronic health record systems ensures smooth documentation and retrieval of patient information, which is essential for coordinated care. Strong communication skills are vital for educating patients and facilitating clear interactions between patients and healthcare providers. Preferred skills like phlebotomy and EKG certification expand the scope of clinical support the Medical Assistant can provide, enhancing patient care services. Additionally, bilingual abilities and knowledge of billing processes improve patient accessibility and administrative efficiency within the healthcare setting.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from an accredited program.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
• Strong understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a clinical healthcare environment.
• Additional certifications such as Phlebotomy or EKG Technician.
• Familiarity with insurance billing and coding processes.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual abilities to assist diverse patient populations.
