X-Ray Technologist

Job Summary:


The Radiology/Cardiology X-Ray Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures across multiple units within a short-term acute care hospital setting. The role involves operating X-ray equipment to capture images for patient diagnosis, ensuring patient safety, and adhering to established protocols. The technician collaborates with clinical staff to provide accurate imaging services and maintains compliance with regulatory standards. This position requires certification and strong technical skills, with weekend availability essential.

Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostic X-ray imaging procedures in radiology and cardiology departments.
• Operate and maintain X-ray equipment safely and effectively.
• Position patients correctly to obtain quality images while minimizing radiation exposure.
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to ensure accurate imaging and patient care.
• Maintain patient records and document imaging procedures in the electronic medical record system.
• Adhere to hospital policies, safety guidelines, and infection control protocols.
• Provide patient education regarding procedures and safety precautions.
• Assist with equipment troubleshooting and report malfunctions promptly.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Certification in Radiologic Technology (ARRT - RT).
• OBMI certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proven ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately and safely.
• Strong knowledge of radiographic techniques and patient positioning.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience in both radiology and cardiology imaging environments.
• Familiarity with Epic electronic medical record system.
• Previous experience in a short-term acute care hospital setting.

Special Considerations:

• Weekend work is required, specifically every Sunday from 07:30 to 19:30.
• No on-call duties expected.
• Floating between units as assigned.
• Compliance with hospital dress code; OR/Cath Lab scrubs are provided.
• Must adhere to radiation safety and infection control standards.

Scheduling:

• Scheduled shifts include weekend coverage on Sundays from 07:30 to 19:30.
• No block scheduling or 48-hour shifts approved.
• Shift assignments may vary due to floating between departments.
