Desktop Support Technician (1099 Contractor)

Job Description

Overview

We are seeking an independent Desktop Support Technician to provide onsite desktop support services on a scheduled basis. This is a consistent, low-commitment assignment ideal for technicians looking to supplement existing field service work.

Scope of Work

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues on desktops and laptops
Provide support for peripherals including printers and related devices
Perform basic network connectivity troubleshooting (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN)
Assist with software support (Windows OS, Microsoft Office, standard business applications)
Conduct light hardware repairs, component replacements, and device setup
Document all work performed, including notes and resolution details
Communicate clearly with onsite personnel regarding issues and resolutions
Escalate complex issues when necessary

Basic Requirements (Mandatory)

Proven hands-on experience with desktop/laptop break/fix and onsite support
Strong troubleshooting capability across hardware and software environments
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems
Familiarity with basic networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, connectivity troubleshooting)
Ability to operate independently in an onsite environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Active Directory (user account support, password resets)
Familiarity with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, Remedy, or similar)
Exposure to system deployment or endpoint management tools (e.g., SCCM)

Engagement Requirements

This is a 1099 independent contractor role (not W2 employment)
Technicians must provide their own tools, laptop, and transportation
Work is accepted on a per-assignment basis
Must be able to pass a background check and drug test
