Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students' communication needs as a skilled Sign Language Interpreter in a vibrant school environment. This full-time contract assignment, situated close to California, MD, offers a dynamic setting for utilizing your expertise with a direct 1:1 student caseload. The position begins August 10th, 2026, and continues through June 17th, 2027, perfectly aligning with the academic calendar.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Maryland Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) License
- Demonstrated proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Previous experience working in educational environments preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities
- A commitment to fostering equity and inclusion for all students
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 sign language interpretation for students, facilitating communication in academic, extracurricular, and school community settings
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, and special education teams to ensure students’ access to the curriculum
- Adapt interpreting techniques to accommodate varying learning and communication styles
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in educational interpreting
- Support students’ engagement, advocacy, and skill development
