POSITION SUMMARY

The Project Engineer supports Marnell Masonry’s project management team by coordinating, preparing, scheduling, and monitoring all construction documents and managing job submittals on a daily basis. This role owns document accuracy, vendor coordination, submittal turnaround, and the permit process, keeping field crews, general contractors, and the estimating team working from current, approved information. This is a non-union, salaried office position and is not covered by any collective bargaining agreement.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Scan, manage, and organize paper and electronic plans, specifications, and project documents.
• Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing, lead times, and product data.
• Assist in preparing shop drawings, project manuals, and project closeout documentation.
• Manage all components of job submittals, including preparation, tracking, resubmittals, and distribution of approved documents to the field.
• Plan, prepare, and schedule all pre-construction and PCT meetings with applicable Marnell Masonry personnel.
• Learn and apply general contractors’ philosophies, hierarchy, document formats, and presentation requirements.
• Obtain and track all necessary permits and schedule required jobsite inspections.
• Maintain and distribute current plan revisions, RFIs, and ASIs so Superintendents and Foremen are working from approved documents.
• Support the Estimating team with document control and takeoff information during the bid and buyout process.
• Track material submittals and deliveries in coordination with Superintendents to keep production on schedule.
• Maintain organized project records, submittal logs, and correspondence.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Project Manager.

MUST HAVE — REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and engineering documents (architectural, structural, civil, and shop drawings).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
• Working knowledge of Procore or a comparable construction project management platform.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and deadlines.
• A positive, likeable personality with the ability to build rapport with general contractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• OSHA 10 card, or ability to obtain within the first 15 days of employment.
• NV Dust (Air Quality) card, or ability to obtain prior to jobsite visits.
• Pass the Company’s Driver Approval Process.
• Pass mandatory pre-employment drug test and background check.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to read and write in English and/or Spanish at a level sufficient to follow safety instructions, complete required documentation accurately, and communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers.

NICE TO HAVE — PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• One (1)+ year of experience as a Project Engineer, project coordinator, or in construction document control.
• BA degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study.
• Prior commercial construction or masonry industry experience.
• Familiarity with Bluebeam, plan-markup, or construction takeoff software.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
• OSHA 30 certification.
