Assistant Controller

Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their Irvine, CA team. The Assistant Controller will be responsible for ensuring the safekeeping of clients’ IOLTA funds by monitoring trust accounts, keeping meticulous records, and reconciling accounts. They will review financial documents for discrepancies, unauthorized transactions, or errors, and maintain proper trust‑account records. This role requires adherence to the highest standards of accounting best practices, overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements. It requires a passion for accounting and finance to contribute to the success of the founding partners. Responsibilities Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Prepare and present accurate financial reports to senior management and stakeholders Ensure compliance with accounting principles, regulations, and company policies Manage the month‑end and year‑end close process, including financial statement preparation and analysis Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive process improvements and cost efficiencies Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred 7–10 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards Proficient in financial management systems and advanced MS Excel skills Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline–driven environment Experience in IOLTA accounting is a huge plus Compensation The firm offers a competitive salary range of $95,000 - $150,000+ plus benefits and bonuses (DOE).
