Responsibilities When the unit is full, the LPN works with RNs handling the highest acuity patients or pairs with an RN who has a heavy patient load. When the unit is not loaded, the LPN pairs with the UNL to assist with the UNL patient load. LPN tasks may include oral medication administration, IV piggyback medication, tracheostomy care, dressing changes, and documentation on assessments and care plans after the RN has completed the initial assessment and initiated the care plan. Chart assessments on assigned patients, given that an RN has charted the initial assessment. Chart care plans, which the RN has opened. If needed, may have RN open new care plans. Communicate with physicians/APPs to receive orders and coordinate care for patient. Complete tracheostomy care as needed. Insert and care for NG tube and feedings through NG tube. Care for and change ostomy. Qualifications Certifications: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR). Nursing required. Work experience: LPN. Compensation This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health.
