CUSTODIAN QUALIFICATIONS: Be clean, neat and professional; High School diploma or
equivalent; good health; possess the initiative to work steadily and effectively
without immediate supervision; be able to communicate effectively with others;
be able to lift at least 50 pounds as an essential job requirement with minimum
physical requirements including lifting, standing, sitting, squatting, walking, work
while lying on back and side, in close quarters, underground, or high elevations.
REPORTS TO: Lead Custodian, Maintenance Director, Building Principal, Assistant
Superintendent or Superintendent. JOB GOAL: To perform custodial work required for the routine cleaning and
upkeep of building and grounds. Receive and follow instructions as directed by
Lead Custodian, Maintenance Director, Building Principal, Assistant Superintendent or
Superintendent. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Maintain a confidential and professional nature of all school related
matters.
2. Use supplies that are provided by the school district for cleaning and
disinfecting.
3. Mop, sweep, and scrub floors and other surfaces.
4. Clean and renew floor surface finishes as directed.
5. Clean and dust furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, windows, doors, trim
and related furnishings.
6. Wash and/or clean windows and door glass.
7. Clean, disinfect and service restroom and locker room facilities daily.
8. Clean and disinfect drinking fountains daily. 9. Clean whiteboards daily.
10. Remove trash and debris from all classrooms, hallways, offices and
other rooms daily, collect and place in containers for removal by truck,
debris removed from buildings.
11. Comply with all regulations and procedures for storage and disposal of
trash and waste.
12. Move furniture, supplies, and miscellaneous equipment as directed.
13. Put up/down tables in cafeteria when necessary.
14. Attend all in service training as scheduled.
15. Perform minor maintenance repairs and replacement, inform the
principal of the additional needed repairs by building maintenance
personnel.
16. Report to work on inclement weather days to keep walkways, steps in
safe condition by shoveling, scraping, cleaning and using cleaning
materials.
17. Check daily to see that the doors to the building are unlocked and/or
locked at the proper time to ensure building security.
18. Keep an inventory of supplies, equipment, tools and other needed
items.
19. Report immediately to the Maintenance Director or Building Principal
any damage to the school property.
20. Request and heed the advice of the Lead Custodian, Maintenance Director, Building Principal, Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent
21. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Lead Custodian, Maintenance Director, Building Principal, Assistant Superintendent and/or Superintendent.
22. Work with the lead custodian and/or other administration to solve any
problem which arises concerning building upkeep in a positive and
productive manner. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 261 days, 12 month employee, and building assignment
to be determined by the Maintenance Director. HOLIDAYS: Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day (2 days), Christmas (3
days), New Year's Day, Good Friday-Unless School Scheduled, Memorial Day EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance
with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel. SCHEDULE: Day Shift 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (30-minute lunch)
Evening Shift 3:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. (30-minute lunch)
