Maintenance Worker

Performs the full range of maintenance duties associated with the construction and/or repair trades including the ability to work independently under general supervision, exercise judgment and initiative, and operate all equipment required to successfully perform assigned tasks.

Minimum Requirements:

• Three years experience in performing building and equipment construction, maintenance and repair required.
• Ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
• Possession of a valid driver's license required. Arizona State Driver's License (Class D) required within 10 days of hire date.
• Must not have accrued six (6) points against driver's license within the past three years.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Any equivalent combination of education or experience that meets the minimum requirements will be accepted.
• Lift test Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

Essential Functions:

• Assists in repairing and maintaining plumbing and/or irrigation systems and fixtures.
• Assists in minor repair and maintenance of HVAC systems.
• Assists in the minor repair of walls, ceilings and flooring systems using a variety of materials and methods.
• Safely operates a variety of hand and power tools and equipment including sprayers, saws, drills, planers, routers and sanders.
• Performs restorative maintenance on a variety of facilities and equipment associated with the construction trades.
• Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical circuits and systems.
• Performs heavy manual labor.

Marginal Functions:

• Performs daily safety checks and maintains fluid levels on assigned vehicle(s).
• Keep work areas clean and orderly to ensure safety.

Mental Tasks:

• Oral and written communication skills.
• Reads and comprehends.
• Performs functions from written, graphic and oral instructions and from observing others.

Physical Tasks:

• Work involves the performance of duties where considerable physical exertion is required as a normal part of the job.
• Assistance is normally available to perform unusually physically demanding tasks.
• Work may involve lifting and carrying objects weighing as much as 75 pounds up to 50 yards as a regular part of the job.
• Climbing, stooping, bending, reaching, walking and sitting for extended periods of time may be required as a normal part of the job.
• Employees must not have any limitations of motion, and vision and hearing should be rated as acceptable to obtain the required driver's license.
• Verbal communicative ability may be required of public contact positions.

Equipment, Aids, Tools, Materials:

• Uses office equipment such as telephone, computers, fax machine and copier.
• Operates a standard or automatic transmission motor vehicle.
• Operates power driven machinery.
• Uses the full range of power and hand tools associated with the construction and maintenance trades.

Working Conditions:

• Outdoor and indoor environment.
• Exposure to noise.
• Contact with employees, students, and the public.
• Exposure to hazardous, noxious substances and fumes.
• Exposure to low, medium, and high voltage electrical current.

Terms of Employment:

Twelve (12) Month

Salary: Placed on appropriate Salary Schedule according to experience and education.

Evaluation: Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board's policy on Evaluation of Personnel.
