Site Reliability Engineer

Symmetrio is recruiting a Site Reliability Engineer for its customer, a rapidly growing international healthcare SaaS company aggressively expanding in the United States. As a member of our customer’s Site Reliability / Cloud Platform team, the role has two connected responsibilities: customer implementations and platform reliability. The Customer Reliability / Site Reliability Engineer keeps the customer’s AWS-hosted, Kubernetes-based SaaS platform reliable by responding to alerts, working incidents, and contributing to continual improvement. Additionally, the Customer Reliability / Site Reliability Engineer will configure the AWS side of new customer environments and work directly with the IT teams at oncology centers, clinics, and health systems to ensure proper routing, VPN, firewall, and identity provider (SSO) configurations.

The Customer Reliability / Site Reliability Engineer will diagnose issues based on what is visible on the AWS side, guiding the customer’s IT team toward appropriate fixes. This role is ideal for someone who is hands-on with cloud infrastructure daily and comfortable being the technical voice on customer calls during implementations and technical issues.

This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates must reside in the Pacific Time Zone. Target compensation is $135,000–$170,000, depending on experience and seniority.

Customer Connectivity & Incident Support

• Diagnose connectivity and routing issues between customer environments and AWS using AWS-side visibility (VPC Flow Logs, VPC Reachability Analyzer, packet capture).
• Get on live calls with customer IT teams, walk them through findings, and direct them to what to check on their end.
• Respond to customer-facing connectivity incidents: lead the call, keep the customer updated, and work the incident through to resolution.

Customer Implementations

• Configure the AWS side of new customer environments (VPC, Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN, routing), using Terraform to automate as much of the setup as possible.
• Work directly with customer IT teams to get their side of the connection right, including firewalls, VPN, routing, and ports.
• Configure and validate the customer’s identity provider (Entra ID/Azure AD) so SSO into the platform is set up correctly.

Platform Operations & Continuous Improvement

• Respond to alerts and incidents on the AWS-hosted, Kubernetes-based SaaS platform as part of the on-call rotation.
• Collaborate with the SRE/Cloud Platform team on continual improvement, using Terraform as the default tool for infrastructure changes.
• Develop and maintain runbooks and documentation covering both customer connectivity and platform operations.

• 5+ years of experience across infrastructure/SRE and network engineering, ideally in a hybrid cloud environment.
• Solid command of TCP/IP, DNS, routing, NAT, and IPsec VPN concepts; ability to diagnose a hybrid connectivity issue from AWS-side data alone and talk a customer’s IT team through their side of it, live, without hands-on access to their environment.
• Hands-on production experience with AWS VPC, Transit Gateway, Site-to-Site VPN, security groups, and NACLs.
• Real hands-on experience operating Kubernetes workloads in production, not just exposure to it.
• Real production experience with Terraform; an automation-first, infrastructure-as-code-first mindset where Terraform, not the console, is the default way of making a change.
• A genuine SRE background in observability and incident response, as part of a team that shares responsibility for reliability.
• Working knowledge of Entra ID/Azure AD group structures, sufficient to configure and validate a customer’s identity provider for SSO into the platform.
• Excellent communication skills; often the only technical person a customer’s IT team is talking to, so must be clear, patient, and credible on a call.
• Healthcare IT or another regulated-industry background is a plus, not a requirement.
