Teacher Aide / RBT Responsibilities
Do you enjoy working to unlock potential for children who experience the world differently? As a Teacher Aide with RBT responsibilities/certification, you'll help enhance learning, behavior, and communication skills for students enrolled in our Children's Education Program. Under the supervision of BCBAs, and in collaboration with Behavioral Services and Education Administration, you'll do the meaningful work of conducting observations, assisting in writing and providing training on behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs, overseeing BIP data collection and skill acquisition programs, promoting PBIS and Tier 1 supports, and providing direct intervention and person-centered support as needed. Every component of your work will come together to improve outcomes for autistic children. From equipping your colleagues with evidence-based behavioral strategies to ensuring that every plan is highly customized to honor unique needs and strengths, you will pave the way for greater success - both in and out of the classroom. It is a profoundly important role that is deeply rewarding. And as part of our team at Anderson, you can embrace tremendous opportunities for career advancement; your supervising BCBAs will help support you and facilitate completion of required hours needed as you work to maintain certifications and complete your BCBA coursework. You'll also have the chance to flourish outside of your role at school. Robust benefits, generous time off, retirement plans with employer contributions, and a healthy work-life balance await. This is a place where you can grow alongside the individuals you serve - now and in the years to come.
What You Will Do as a Teacher Aide / RBT:
- You will work as a Teacher Aide with RBT responsibilities, helping create a supportive, engaging, and structured learning environment where individuals with autism can learn, grow, discover, and thrive.
- You will support student learning of personal care, nutrition, and household skills, including teaching students how to safely transition from "home" to school.
- You will help develop and implement educational and behavioral support plans to support the acquisition of skills and to bring to reality desired outcomes.
- You will utilize behavioral supports to drive student learning and skills development success.
- You will assist in cultivating a collaborative, cohesive classroom team experience focused on actively addressing student learning, communication, social skills, and behavioral needs.
- You will collaborate and communicate with the classroom teacher - and other support professionals - to optimize student learning and create alignment.
- You will complete all required data and documentation forms related to student learning and health.
- You will collect, enter, and analyze data for behavioral services in an accurate and timely manner.
- You will model communication, social, and interpersonal skills for students, and deliver positive feedback as students progress in these areas.
- You will train staff on proactive and reactive strategies and supports.
- You will support the implementation of replacement skills related to program goals.
- You will safely and accurately administer student medication upon successful completion of targeted training.
- You will maintain documentation of RBT hours and supervision.
- You will help create a culture of unconditional positive regard for each student, ever mindful of maximizing strengths while effectively navigating any challenges that arise. Ultimately, you will do what you can to optimize student learning success and confidence.
What You Can Bring to the Team:
- Genuine passion for working with autistic individuals (particularly children), and a positive, team-oriented spirit.
- Dependability, compassion, integrity, patience, adaptability, perseverance, and a genuine belief that students with autism have enormous potential that can be realized in the right environment with proper support.
- Strong communication, organizational, collaborative, interpersonal, observational, teaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Understanding of evidence-based Applied Behavior Analysis practices, neurodiversity-affirming frameworks, and sensory sensitivities.
- Alignment with our mission and values.
Additional Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent, with at least one year's experience working with the developmentally disabled population.
- Must complete 40 hours of training and pass the competency exam and maintain certification. Note: RBT Certification is not required upon hire; selected candidates, however, will receive training and support to pursue and maintain certification.
- Must maintain qualifications in the crisis intervention procedure of the agency.
- Must be capable at all times of initiating or assisting in all components of the crisis intervention of the agency.
- Must be capable at all times of assisting occupants in the orderly evacuation of the facility, by both primary and secondary paths in the event of fire or other emergency.
- Completion of agency orientation and training.
- Must fulfill all mandated reporting requirements, ensure compliance with agency policies, and adhere to organizational protocols.
