QA Automation Tester – Department of Children and Families The Department of Children and Families (DCF) supports CT-KIND, a federally reimbursed Comprehensive Child Welfare Information System (CCWIS) used by over 2,000 workers. This role will ensure QA automation of the system, delivering functional, performance, and security quality across its components. Overview The QA Automation Tester will design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for distributed, multi-tier applications, while also performing manual testing to sustain and improve existing systems. Responsibilities Follow core technology and architecture for automated testing of large-scale distributed systems. Automate application testing following specifications and maintain required technical documentation. Implement end-to-end system testing strategies and support migration/integration of new and legacy technologies. Communicate with users, sponsors, and stakeholders to determine evolving needs. Collaborate with development, product owners, and operations to ensure best testing strategies and practices. Generate test artifacts such as unit tests, functional, regression, load, and compatibility tests; produce coverage and compliance reports. Maintain testing libraries and artifacts, keeping them current. Create automated test case scenarios for Agile Delivery teams to meet Acceptance Criteria. Qualifications 5+ years of experience with Azure DevOps suite (Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans, Artifacts). 5+ years of automated testing experience using UFT (Unified Functional Testing) and VBScript or another programming language. 5+ years of experience with automated testing frameworks, manual testing, test methodologies, strategies, and test beds. 5+ years of experience with Agile Methodologies. Knowledge of testing tools, continuous integration, web/application, distributed, performance, database, mobile, security, accessibility, and web service testing. Knowledge of .NET, SharePoint, Salesforce, and data modeling. Experience with enterprise integration projects and pattern implementation. Understanding of QA best practices in Agile, test planning, test execution, and issue tracking. Familiarity with DevOps and continuous integration environments. Experience in Test-Driven Development and related testing tools. Strong abstract thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Unified Functional Testing and knowledge of C#, WCF, jQuery, XML, JSON, WebApi, SOAP, and .NET. Test experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP, WCF) and tools such as SOAPUI. Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft SharePoint, and Mulesoft. Knowledge of virtualized hosting environments and SQL. BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technology field. Additional Information Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident. Full-time (40 hrs/week), Monday-Friday, 8-5 PM; hybrid in-office presence required. Background checks: DCF Child Protection, FBI Fingerprint, and DCF Non-Disclosure Agreement.
