If you want to grow into something instead of just clocking in, keep reading. The Role We're hiring a full-time trainee with one clear goal: to develop you into a lead technician. You'll start by shadowing our lead tech on every job — learning our process, our products, our standards, and how to move on a vehicle from start to finish. As your skills build, you'll take on more responsibility until you're running jobs independently. This isn't a 'maybe someday' promotion — it's the plan from day one. If you're serious, coachable, and want to master a trade, this is the position for you. You do not need prior detailing experience. You need to be the type of person who shows up every day ready to learn, work hard, and take pride in the craft. Your Growth Track Phase 1 — Shadow & Learn Work alongside the lead tech on every job. Learn J&W standards, product systems (Gyeon, Koch-Chemie), and how to handle every vehicle type we service. Phase 2 — Execute & Refine Begin executing tasks independently — washes, decontaminations, interior cleans, prep work. Get feedback. Sharpen your eye. Build speed without sacrificing quality. Phase 3 — Lead Tech Run your own jobs. Manage client communication on-site. Represent J&W as the face of the detail. At this stage, your earning potential grows significantly. Timeline is based on performance, not time served. The right person can move through this fast. What You'll Do Shadow our lead tech daily and absorb everything — ask questions, stay curious Wash, decontaminate, and detail vehicles to J&W standards Assist on paint correction prep, ceramic coating prep, and interior deep cleans Maintain equipment, chemicals, and the branded van between jobs Grow into executing full jobs independently over time Represent the J&W brand professionally — our clients see you, not just the work What We're Looking For Reliable transportation to our Oakland location Valid driver's license + clean driving record Coachable above all else — you have to want to be taught Detail-obsessed mindset — if you do something, you do it right Strong work ethic. We move fast. We don't carry passengers. Able to work outdoors in Bay Area conditions, on your feet for 8+ hour days Clean appearance and communication that matches a premium brand Someone who wants to own a skill set, not just collect a check Bonus (not required): Any prior detailing, car wash, valet, or auto industry experience What You Get $20–$30/hour effective rate (20% commission per job + cash tips) — grows as your role grows Tips on top of commission Full paid training on Gyeon, Koch-Chemie , and professional-grade equipment most techs never get hands-on with 1099 Independent Contractor Branded gear and uniforms provided Defined path to Lead Technician — this is the job, not a maybe Schedule Full-time. Consistent weekly schedule including weekends, with weekday jobs as the book fills. Expect 35–45 hours/week. Weekend availability is required — that's when premium clients book.
