Trading Operations - Hedge Fund

A leading global hedge fund is looking to hire a Trading Operations / Middle Office Associate to support its Equities & Fixed Income trading business in New York.

The role sits within a high-performing post-trade function and provides end-to-end ownership of the trade lifecycle, covering trade capture, allocations, clearing, settlement, reconciliations and exception management.

You will work closely with traders, prime brokers, custodians, clearing brokers, exchanges and internal technology and operations teams, acting as a key operational partner to the trading desk.

Beyond day-to-day processing, the team is focused on building a scalable, technology-driven operating model. The successful candidate will therefore have the opportunity to improve workflows, strengthen controls and introduce automation across the post-trade environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end Middle Office support for institutional Equities & Fixed Income Trading.
• Manage the trade lifecycle from execution and allocation through matching and settlement
• Investigate and resolve trade breaks, unmatched trades, allocation issues, settlement fails and position discrepancies
• Partner directly with traders to support daily activity, new markets, counterparties and trading strategies
• Manage relationships and workflows across prime brokers, custodians, brokers, CCPs and other market participants
• Monitor settlement activity, stock availability and cash positions, proactively identifying and escalating potential risks
• Perform daily trade, position and cash reconciliations across internal systems and external counterparties
• Support corporate actions and other lifecycle events where they impact trading, positions or settlement
• Work with Technology and Operations teams to enhance workflows, controls, reporting and exception management
• Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve the scalability and efficiency of the platform
• Develop and monitor operational metrics around breaks, fails, reconciliations and settlement performance
• Contribute to a strong operational risk and control framework

Requirements

• 3–8 years' experience across Middle Office, Trade Support, Settlements or a related post-trade function
• Strong experience supporting either Equities or Fixed Income trading within an investment bank, hedge fund, asset manager or similar financial institution
• Experience working with prime brokers, custodians, clearing brokers and other market infrastructure
• Proven ability to investigate and resolve trade breaks, settlement issues, reconciliations and other operational exceptions
• Strong understanding of operational risk, controls and post-trade processes
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where issues can be time-sensitive and market-impacting
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with Front Office, Operations, Technology and external counterparties
• Proactive, self-motivated approach with a genuine interest in improving and automating processes
• Strong academic background / Bachelor's degree
• Advanced Excel skills required; Python, SQL, Tableau or other data/automation experience is advantageous
