We are seeking an experienced pharmacist to serve as our Director of Compounding , providing operational leadership for our compounding department and helping us continue to scale while maintaining excellence in quality and compliance.

Position Summary

The Director of Compounding is responsible for leading all aspects of non-sterile compounding operations. This individual will oversee pharmacists and technicians, optimize production workflows, maintain regulatory compliance, develop staff, and drive continuous operational improvement.

This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys building systems, mentoring teams, and improving performance in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the day-to-day operations of the compounding department.
• Supervise and mentor pharmacists, technicians, and production staff.
• Ensure compliance with USP standards and all applicable state and federal regulations.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Oversee quality assurance, documentation, investigations, and corrective actions.
• Monitor production metrics, turnaround times, workflow efficiency, and quality indicators.
• Identify opportunities to improve productivity while maintaining exceptional quality.
• Partner with pharmacy leadership on staffing, scheduling, budgeting, and operational planning.
• Oversee technician training, competency assessments, and ongoing professional development.
• Collaborate with purchasing and inventory teams to maintain efficient inventory management.
• Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Active Pharmacist license in good standing.
• Minimum 5 years of compounding pharmacy experience.
• Demonstrated leadership or management experience in a compounding environment.
• Strong knowledge of USP <795> and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience leading teams and implementing operational improvements.
• Ability to analyze data and use KPIs to drive performance.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing high-volume compounding operations.
• Multi-site or multi-department leadership experience.
• Experience with pharmacy workflow optimization and automation.
