Job Summary Registered Nurse – 12Hr Afternoon–Evening shift. Capable clinician with previous specialty experience preferred. Provides effective direct care as part of interdisciplinary team to complex patients, seeks and provides feedback for clinical improvement, assumes a beginning bedside leadership role and seeks mentoring. Member of VOICE shared governance, participates in VOICE councils, Nursing Quality Teams, Unit Council, and helps improve NDNQI nursing‑sensitive indicators, RN Satisfaction, Employee Engagement, Culture of Safety, and Patient Experience data. Works with team to recruit and retain a nursing care team. New Graduate Clinical RN Focus Focuses on developing knowledge and skills, shows growth in ability to care for increasingly complex patients, provides direct and safe patient care with the nursing process, coordinates care on shift to achieve clinical outcomes, consults with experienced clinicians, and accepts constructive feedback as professional development. Minimum Job Qualifications Licensed to practice as an RN in Georgia. Associate’s Degree in Nursing. One year of professional RN experience. New graduate or less than one year referred to RN Residency Program. Preferred Job Qualifications National certification in clinical specialty. Bachelor of Nursing Degree. One year experience in Long Term Care. Membership in a professional organization. Job Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Delivery of safe, effective, efficient care that meets population‑specific guidelines. Actively works to make own and related teams successful and effectively communicates with patients, families and colleagues at all levels. Shows consideration and respect toward others and fosters customer service. Effectively prioritizes, recognizes problems, and utilizes evidence‑based practice. Demonstrates personal mastery, leadership of self and others, delegates appropriately, and supports NGHS shared governance model. Basic computer skills necessary for unit computers. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities Demonstrate basic assessment skills. Demonstrate the 5 rights of medication administration. Manage care for basic patient assignments and progress to increasingly complex patients. Accurately document all aspects of the nursing process using the electronic medical record. Understand and comply with all DNV standards, access and follow policies. Evaluate patient response to interventions and adjust plan of care appropriately. Consistently coordinate interdisciplinary care. Use resources effectively to reduce waste. Participate in PI processes. Maintain and monitor work environment to ensure compliance with DNV regulations. Coordinate discharge planning. Contribute to culture of safety within the organization. Interpersonal Skills and Relationships Include patient and family in care. Provide effective education appropriate to learning needs of patient/family. Demonstrate customer service behaviors. Participate in organizational and unit‑based customer service initiatives. Critical Thinking Skills and Innovation Plan patient care based on assessment. Display basic prioritization and time management skills. Evaluate patient’s response to interventions and seek support to adjust plan of care. Use unit resources to increase understanding of unfamiliar patient populations. Recognize signs of deteriorating patient and access appropriate resources. Read nursing research/EBP articles. Participate in discharge planning with increasing responsibility and coordination. Rapidly recognize and anticipate changes in patient status and take appropriate action maintaining professional composure. Recognize nursing practice trends and question care relative to evidence‑based practice. Consistently and independently prioritize patient care. Leadership and Professional Development Support unit goals. Demonstrate support for shared governance through awareness of initiatives. Complete professional development plan and show progress on learning goals. Supervise and ensure completion of tasks assigned to ancillary/support staff. Participate in nursing profession enhancement and community support. Appropriately delegate tasks. Consult with interdisciplinary team for resources. Provide input to shared governance initiatives. Serve in unit leadership roles, including Nurse in Charge as necessary. Physical Demands and Job Requirements Weight lifted: up to 100lbs, occasionally 0‑30% of time. Weight carried: up to 50lbs, occasionally 0‑30% of time. Vision: moderate, frequently 31‑65% of time. Kneeling/stooping/bending: frequently 31‑65% of time. Standing/walking: frequently 31‑65% of time. Pushing/pulling: frequently 31‑65% of time. Intensity of work: frequently 31‑65% of time. Reading, writing, reasoning, talking, keyboarding.
