RN - PCU/Step Down

This is a travel nursing position for an RN in the PCU/Step Down unit at Cone Health - Alamance Regional Medical Center. The shift is from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, three times a week for 36 scheduled hours. The contract duration is 13 weeks, starting on June 8, 2026, and ending on September 7, 2026.

The candidate must have cardiac PCU experience and be comfortable with 1:5 patient ratios. They should be flexible with scheduling and aware of the client's zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences. Minimum of two years of experience is required. First-time travelers are okay. Previous charge RN experience is preferred. BLS, ACLS certifications are required. NIH preferred.

The RN will focus on the cardiac patient, including congestive heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, arrhythmias, pre and post cardiac catheterization with and without intervention, rule out myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, syncope, pacemaker placement. Secondary focus will be on respiratory problems such as COPD, pneumonia, Bipap.

The unit is a 30-private bed Cardiac Medical Progressive Care department that provides care 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Rooms are remotely monitored by the Centralized Cardiac Monitoring Department (CCMD). Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 with drips/bipap.

Compliance requires a full compliance file by 12 noon EST the Wednesday prior to the start date. Education verification through a third party is required. Facility will not accept any education from schools listed on the Diploma Fraud Florida Education Audit list. Background checks must be clear. License in hand is required with submission. Local radius is 50 miles. No locals accepted. Submission must include a current driver's license to confirm address for local rule. EPIC experience is required. All travelers are subject to float to any Cone Health campus if needed. All RNs are required to pass an EKG exam during compliance. The candidate is allowed two attempts at a Pass/Fail requirement. Study material is not provided so please plan accordingly. Modules are non-billable, average 2-4 hours, completed during orientation, not included in NBO. Module hours are unit based and will vary.
