Compass Housing Alliance is the housing, essential services, and emergency shelter division of Lutheran Community Services Northwest (LCSNW). HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT:

All LCSNW team members will contribute to our mission of partnering with individuals, families and communities for health, justice and hope. The Associate Director of Advancement leads philanthropic activities for the Compass division and other assigned programs or geographic areas in alignment with LCSNW’s organizational strategy and mission. This position provides advancement leadership for Compass, guiding fundraising efforts, donor engagement, and the work of assigned Advancement staff in support of divisional priorities. The Associate Director strengthens alignment between Compass and organizational advancement practices while partnering across the Advancement team to advance shared philanthropic priorities.

• Lead advancement activities for assigned division(s), programs, or geographic areas, translating organizational philanthropic strategy into fundraising priorities, plans, and measurable outcomes.

• Advise the Director of Philanthropic Strategy and operational leaders on fundraising opportunities, donor trends, community relationships, and emerging needs that may inform philanthropic strategy and priorities.

• Cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships with individual, corporate, foundation, faith-based, and community donors to expand philanthropic support and develop lasting partnerships.

• Oversee assigned advancement portfolios, including annual planning, donor pipelines, revenue forecasting, stewardship activities, performance reporting, and donor data management.

• Partner with Advancement team members, operational leaders, Communications, and other stakeholders to coordinate fundraising activities, strengthen donor engagement, and advance consistent organizational practices.

• Direct the work of assigned Advancement staff across donor cultivation, stewardship, events, community engagement, and other fundraising activities, ensuring effective execution and progress toward established goals.

• Represent LCSNW with donors, faith communities, businesses, community partners, and other stakeholders, building inclusive relationships that strengthen awareness, engagement, and philanthropic investment.
• This job is responsible for supervising employees and/or non-employees, such as interns or volunteers. This includes and is not limited to making employment decisions; setting and communicating clear goals in alignment with relevant objectives and required outcomes; and effectively managing individual and team performance

HOW YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT:

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, development, donor relations, or advancement within a nonprofit or mission-driven organization, including experience leading staff, complex portfolios, or cross-functional initiatives.

• Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Public Administration, Communications, Business, or a related field; substantial relevant experience may be considered in place of the degree.

• Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and managing major gift portfolios, corporate partnerships, community fundraising initiatives, and donor engagement activities.

• Demonstrated experience developing and carrying out fundraising plans, monitoring revenue goals and donor pipelines, and using performance data to evaluate progress and adjust activities.

• Experience guiding and developing staff while coordinating work across multiple teams, programs, geographic areas, or organizational functions.

• Strong understanding of donor-centered fundraising practices, ethical standards, donor confidentiality, and accurate constituent data management.

• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to communicate the organization’s mission authentically and effectively to donors, community partners, faith communities, staff, and other diverse audiences.

• Strong relationship-building, solicitation, negotiation, presentation, and stewardship skills, with the judgment and discretion needed to manage sensitive donor and organizational matters.

• Strategic and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to translate organizational priorities into actionable fundraising plans while balancing planning, execution, evaluation, and changing needs.

• Intermediate mastery of business applications and productivity suites and proficiency using fundraising databases or constituent relationship management systems, such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or Bloomerang.

• Demonstrates resilience, awareness, and self-regulation when navigating challenges, conflict, competing priorities, and barriers.

• Thrives in a complex environment and works effectively with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategies that strengthen donor, partner, and stakeholder experiences.

• Demonstrates exceptional commitment to serving and advocating for diverse and marginalized populations.

• Interact with others and perform tasks in person and through the use of technology, with long periods of stationary activity and occasional periods of increased physical activity, including sitting, standing, walking, presenting, and participating in events.

• Travel regularly between worksites and to donors, community, partner, and event locations, including occasional evening or weekend activities.

• Works in a variety of settings, including LCSNW office locations, partner agency and community-based settings, client home or community settings, outdoor settings in varying weather conditions, and faith-based settings such as churches.

• Standard LCSNW criminal clearance, including national sex offender. Motor vehicle records, valid driver’s license and auto insurance are required.
