Job Description

This role focuses on sorting and processing recyclable materials in a fast-paced, highly repetitive environment on a first-shift schedule starting at 6:00 a.m. You will handle cardboard and plastic, operate recycling equipment, and prepare bundled materials for shipment while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work area.

Responsibilities

• Sort and separate recyclable materials, including cardboard and plastic, according to established guidelines and categories.
• Operate baler machines to compress cardboard and plastic into bundles that meet size and weight specifications.
• Operate densifier equipment to process recyclable materials safely and efficiently.
• Bundle and secure processed cardboard and plastic so they are ready for storage and shipment.
• Handle and move materials throughout the facility using appropriate material handling techniques and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area by removing debris and ensuring recyclables are properly staged.
• Follow safety procedures and equipment operating instructions to prevent accidents and equipment damage.
• Monitor equipment performance, report issues or malfunctions, and assist with basic upkeep as directed.
• Perform repetitive tasks consistently and accurately throughout the shift while meeting productivity and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Experience with recyclable material sorting and waste segregation.
• Ability to operate baler machines safely and efficiently.
• Ability to operate densifier equipment for recyclable materials.
• Material handling skills, including safe lifting and movement of materials.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate sorting and bundling of materials.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently over the course of a shift.
• Basic understanding of safety practices in an industrial or warehouse environment.
• High school diploma.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in recycling, warehouse, or manufacturing environments is beneficial.
• Comfort working with machinery and following detailed operating instructions.
• Reliability and punctuality for early morning first-shift start times.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet production goals.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle materials throughout the shift.

Work Environment

This position is based in a recycling facility operating on a first shift with a 6:00 a.m. start time. The work involves standing for most of the shift, performing repetitive tasks, and handling cardboard and plastic materials. You will regularly use equipment such as baler machines and densifiers, along with standard material handling tools. The environment is industrial in nature, with active machinery, stacked materials, and shipping preparation areas. Appropriate work attire typically includes durable clothing and closed-toe footwear suitable for an industrial setting, along with any required personal protective equipment provided on site.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Richfield, OH.

The pay range for this position is $18.60 - $18.60/hr.
