Job Description:

In this role, you are independently responsible for the maintenance outcomes, availability, and reliability of your installations. Working at the intersection of operations and engineering, you translate data and practical knowledge into concrete improvement actions.

You serve as the technical point of contact for your area. You monitor the quality of work requests and play an active role in the morning briefing cycle.

You ensure safe working conditions. You establish safety isolation requirements and review isolation plans and work permits in collaboration with the production team.

You take ownership of installation performance. You drive reliability and availability and translate the annual plan into a clear technical scope.

You lead the response to breakdowns and complex disruptions. You conduct root cause analyses and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

You manage scope, budget, and compliance. You oversee maintenance costs, forecasting, and actuals, while ensuring that legally required maintenance is carried out.

You coordinate shutdown activities. As the section shutdown coordinator, you oversee progress, quality, and technical decisions.

We utilize an OEE-based time tracking system, within which you are responsible for managing unplanned downtime. Larger projects are coordinated with other departments, and you provide support for these when required. You report to the Work Unit Manager (Electrical). Key stakeholders include local maintenance teams, production managers, and the central maintenance organization. You need to possess multidisciplinary insight and excel at maintaining a broad overview. You also handle maintenance tasks that were previously put on hold due to competing priorities. The Technical Coordinator makes decisions regarding shutdowns and maintenance scopes, always in consultation with the Shutdown Manager. You determine the necessary activities and identify which installations can be safely taken out of service to allow work to proceed securely. You work with a preventive maintenance plan, and the Technical Coordinator (TC) is responsible for this, often coordinating it with scheduled shutdowns.

You take ownership, maintain a clear overview, and are decisive. You switch seamlessly between operational and tactical levels and know how to get colleagues on board with technical decisions. Safety and quality are always your top priorities. You act as a strong sparring partner for section management and enjoy collaborating to improve results.

Additionally, you possess:

A Bachelor's degree (HBO) in Electrical Engineering or a similar technical field.

Experience with maintenance processes, fault analysis, and equipment performance.

An affinity for budgeting, scope management, and compliance.

The ability to translate complex issues into concrete actions.

An affinity for heavy industry and the maintenance of large-scale installations.

Leadership experience is a significant advantage.

The ability to roll up your sleeves in a dynamic environment while maintaining a "helicopter view."

You will be part of the (central) maintenance organization at Tata Steel IJmuiden, where specialized technical teams are responsible for site-wide scheduled maintenance.
