Senior Financial Analyst

Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst leads finance for certain business units within the Baltimore district. This position is responsible for the close, analysis of results, budgets, forecasts, accuracy of customer billings, financial analysis and monitoring of CAPEX projects, and support to operations and business development teams. This position reports to the Regional Finance Director and is located in Baltimore, MD. This is a full-time, exempt position. The compensation for this position is $100,000-120,000 per year plus 15% bonus target.

Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Regional Support

• Business Unit Close Leadership: For assigned business units, lead the full month-end close process-including booking journal entries, managing complex account reconciliations, and clearly explaining financial results.
• Financial Planning & Analysis: Drive the development of regional budgets, localized rolling forecasts, and the proactive identification of financial risks and opportunities.
• CapEx & Working Capital Management: Oversee and manage capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets and identify/implement working capital improvements.
• Financial Support to Operations: Act as an analytical resource for operations (Ops), translating complex financial data into meaningful guidance regarding safety, system financial reliability, and financial performance.

Issue Resolution & Account Management Partnership

• Billing Problem Resolution: Take ownership of problem resolution and navigate troubleshooting for complex customer utility-billing discrepancies or disputes.
• Customized Reporting: Assist in the development of customized, ad-hoc financial reports to support specialized data requests from the account management or finance teams.
• General Account Management Support: Provide general operational and financial support to the account management group to ensure commercial clients are served seamlessly.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or Economics or related field from an accredited college or university
• Minimum of 3 years' financial analysis or accounting experience, preferably in technical services or engineering industry, including budgeting, forecasting and management reporting

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Public Accountant or willingness to obtain.

Other Qualifications

• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite; specifically Excel

• • Ability to independently audit, navigate, and build complex formulas in high-volume data workbooks.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization with personnel and executive management.
• Understanding of basic debits, credits, revenue recognition, and balance sheet mechanics.
• Strong mathematical, analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to details and ability to review materials for accuracy.
• Ability to independently complete multiple time-sensitive tasks.
